Thank you for joining us. Today, our prayer leader is @greenthumbnails: Hello Friends- We all arrived here, together, today, for different- and sometimes very personal reasons. Some of us were already following the Iranian election long before June, others were drawn in by curiosity as the Sea of Green washed across Twitter. Some of us found this community as a result of the demonstrations surrounding the UN General Assembly in NY. Each time Iran finds itself in the trending topics, we have opportunity to make new friends. We also have many opportunities to turn away new friends. Worn out and discouraged by time, trolls, and disinformation, we have all become less trusting. We look at news, strangers, and ideas with skepticism, Many good ideas and good people are met with a lot of resistance. We used to be grateful to have a new green among us, now it seems we would rather debate the shade of green. We must reflect on why we are here. We must find new trust in each other. We must remember that we can expand without dividing. I pray that the candle that was lit in each of our hearts burns steadily and eternally. May we each remember the sound of the voice that called us here. I pray that we learn to trust again, in spite of the many bad things we are exposed to on a daily basis. I pray that enthusiastic new friends will continue to become active parts of this community. May we always have fresh ideas and insights. Give us the determination to reach beyond our comfort zones. As Iran reaches with one hand toward nuclear energy, with talk of peaceful intent-THE WORLD WATCHES. As Iran preaches intolerance and tests missles, on the highest holy days of their enemies-THE WORLD WATCHES. There are plenty of things wrong with those statements, I would like to focus on something less obvious. 'As Iran' - This statement implicates an entire country. Why would anyone care about the citizens of a nation that wants them dead? This is the question that the regime wants the world to ask. They'd like the world to go back to its old ways. The Iranian regime would like to de-humanize their country. A country of nearly 70 million people. A population with a median age of 27 years. Students. Young Professionals. Mothers and Fathers. Brothers and Sisters. People with cats and dogs. People with facebook and myspace accounts. People who send text messages and youtube clips to their friends. People who sit in traffic on their way to work every day. People who go out searching for a job every day. People just like you and I. I pray for the people of Iran. I pray for the world. I pray for humanity. They would like us to stop caring. But, we do care. And we will not stop. We must help others to see past these terrible misconceptions. We MUST keep attention on the people of Iran. The people of Iran have no interest in firing missiles at anyone, why would they?
