Hello, and welcome. Today's prayer leader is @MelodyMoezzi: I get at least ten emails a day from strangers asking me what they can do to help the Iranian people. One of the simplest & most powerful things you can do to help is pray for us! And to pray for us, you need not even have faith in God. You need only have faith in people. I ask that you pray in whatever way speaks to you. In whatever way you feel comfortable. But please, do not forget or forsake us. We pray not only for Iran, but also for all those victims of oppression around the world. The plight of Iranians is that of the oppressed, whether they be in Venenzuela, Burma, Pakistan or Congo. So, I beseech you to keep us all in your thoughts and not to lose hope. Pray that all Iranians, no matter their political, ethnic or religious affiliation, will soon be free. Pray that those of us who have spoken out & cannot return safely to our homelands will soon be able to. Pray that the world does not forget the plight of our people. Pray that peace and justice take hold of Iran and never let go. Pray for our release from the prison of injustice & for the release of our political prisoners. Pray for equality for all: Baha’i or Christian, Muslim or Jew, woman or man, gay or straight, believer or not. And do not make the mistake of praying for only your own race, culture, class or religion. We are all in this struggle together. In the words of Frederick Douglass, “Without struggle there can be no progress.” By now, the world has heard the chants of Allah-u Akbar from the rooftops of Iran. The voices of these brave Iranians have traveled around the world & back again. And the chants of Allah-u Akbar, or God is Great, represent far more than a religious conviction. These rooftop calls to the sky have reverberated both across the street & across the world. The words Allah-u Akbar are not nearly as significant as the replies to them. This is how we know that we are not alone, that we have not been forsaken, that we are united. So, let the world reply to our calls of Allah-u Akbar with whatever words they can find. We need reassurance of more than the Greatness of God. We need reassurance of the support of humanity. We need to know that wherever there is unity, there is power. So, pray for our fearless Iranian brothers & sisters, for none of us can be fully free when others are not. Keep returning our Allah-u Akbars with whatever words, thoughts or prayers you can. Silence is the enemy of liberty, and indifference is the enemy of virtue. And in all your prayers, please remember the words of the great 13th century Sufi poet, Rumi: “Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel & kiss the ground.” ~Rumi
