Hello, and welcome. Today's prayer leader is @thehoopoe: Dear all, greetings to you during the special time of #Ramadan observed by the Muslim friends among us. These are the days when many are fasting, and dedicating their time to reflection and remembrance of God. Despite the holiness of Ramadan, the government of Iran desecrates Islam by heaping cruelty upon its people. But it is no longer possible to commit atrocities in the darkness. We are here to witness these horrible human rights violations. Today different countries, continents, nationalities, convictions and creeds meet in this virtual room to pray. And when we pray, we meet in the Placeless and Timeless, where we all are one. Our meeting is a strangely beautiful byproduct of the atrocities committed by the oppressors in Iran. A new community of activists has formed and united in solidarity with the people of Iran. The cruelty displayed by the tyrants in Tehran has made the sea of compassion surge. The events in Iran opened the hearts in the West and East to one another, awakened curiosity, and ignited love. People who might have been indifferent or fearful of one another have connected in the struggle for freedom. These connections sustain us through this struggle, and when victory is achieved, may take us to new battles. Still, on a daily basis, the news coming from Iran is harrowing. It would be inhuman not to be distraught. We remember the martyrs, the prisoners, their families and loved ones. We meet them in the Placeless and Timeless spot of prayer. We pledge not to forget them, and to invent new creative ways to honor the fallen ones through our actions. The path is not easy because the pain that we witness has an effect on us. This is inevitable as we are all connected. How can we face and transcend this pain? We need to look. Look for strength within, and for ways to transform it into action. Inside, there is a core of power, with never-ending desire- A burning flame that represents our quest for freedom. Our inner freedom cannot be taken away; it is a sum of all that is good within us and more. In prayer and meditation, inner freedom is revealed as enormous space, a bit like looking at the limitless sky. Please take the time to look for your inner core of power, into this enormous space, and look after it- For that will sustain you. Remember that self-care is not a selfish deed. Rather, consider self-care an act of service because it can propel you to higher levels of action. And service, side by side with our friends, is the next thing that helps transcend the pain. Everywhere there are amazing people who are keen to bring about change. The knowledge that we are not alone in this struggle is in itself an immense source of joy and hope. Let us gather, reflect, and plan further action. Seeds of unity have been planted my friends. Let us pray that we bear the fruit of our unity in the days, months, and years to come. Let us pray that we all see free Iran soon; that we see an end to all the suffering and oppression. Let us pray for healing of the survivors of torture and abuse; let us pray for their families and loved ones. Let us pledge that we will work tirelessly to do our share in the struggle for freedom. And let us always remember that we are one. Baha'u'llah, who was born in Tehran, wrote these words in the 19th century: "The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens."
